A Ski Wedding In Kitzbühel Austria

Where does a Canadian ex-ski racer marry a Swedish snowboarder? Only in the most famous ski resort in the Austrian Alps of course! Emily & Johan knew they wanted to combine their annual winter sports holiday with their wedding and they decided that Kitzbühel was the place they were going to make their dream ski wedding happen!

A Ski Wedding In Kitzbühel Austria

Emily is from Canada, Johan is from Sweden. They met in London and romance blossomed on a ski trip to the Alps. So when Johan proposed to Emily on a ski weekend in Sweden, they both knew there was only one way they were getting married - in the snow! Their vision for their wedding day was quite simple. They wanted the best skiing holiday ever with a wedding thrown in too.

On the day of their wedding, the chose to meet at the top of the famous Hahnenkamm downhill slope, where they had their first look with a view over in to the valley below. They took the gondola back down to Kitzbühel and jumped in a taxi to another iconic Kitz location - the Ganslern Alm. It was here that they had their outdoor ceremony with their friends and family as their witnesses, before kicking off a massive apres-ski wedding reception party. And boy did they know how to party! I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many bottles of Jägermeister finished so quickly, and I used to be a ski instructor!

The morning after we all met up again at the bottom of the Ganslern chair lift for some post-wedding shredding. A few runs quickly turned in to another crazy apres-ski session back at the Ganslern Alm but before we could call it a day there was one more thing on the agenda. To take the lift up to the top of the Hahnenkamm for a few more pictures before tackling the famous Streif run on the way back down.
