A Surprise Proposal In Scotland

Ok, you might be a little confused by this blog title “A Surprise Proposal In Scotland”. You’re probably thinking that almost all proposals are surprises. And yes, that’s true. They are usually a surprise to the person being proposed to. But on this occasion, it was also a complete surprise to their photographer Keith Bridle from Bridle Photography. So I’m going to let him tell you about the story of Megan & Corrie…

A Surprise Proposal In Scotland

When a photographer from Canada gets in touch and says she loves your work, its super nice. And when she then asks if you’ll shoot a couple session in Scotland it’s super humbling (and exciting)! Megan is an awesome photographer from just outside of Toronto and she was in the UK for a friends wedding. Wanting to make the most of her trip to the UK, she decided to try and visit as many places as she could. She brought her partner Corrie with her, who hadn’t been to the UK before, so it was a special trip for both of them.

My fiancé, Emma, grew up in Scotland and spent her weekends in and around the mountains. One of our first trips was to Glencoe and Glen Etive and we fell in love with its magical beauty. We knew it would be the perfect location for Megan & Corrie’s session.

We met up on a grey, windy and rainy day in Scotland. Standard weather you might say for this neck of the woods!! After the hellos and the open mouths looking at the views, we made are away out to shoot some pictures and show them our favourite spots.
Something about this beautiful place at Glen Etive made Corrie do something very unexpected.

As they enjoyed the view, he got down on one knee and asked Megan to marry him! He told us later that he was planning on doing it in Ireland, but decided this place was the perfect place to do it. And luckily he had brought he ring with him just in case. Of course, Megan said yes!

It totally brought a tear to my eye, seeing two awesome people together and being able to share that with them is something I will always remember. But I’m also a bit upset Corrie stole my spot, as I’m planning to get married there next year!! But I forgive you Corrie 😉
