The Zugspitze is Germany’s highest mountain. Sitting at an elevation of 2,962 metres above sea level, on the border between Austria and Germany, it is home to Germany’s highest ski resort, with not one, but three glaciers. The journey to the Zugspitze starts from the town of Garmisch Partenkirchen, where a cog-wheel train takes you deep in to the Bavarian Alps. At the shores of Lake Eibsee, you leave the train and take the cable car up to the very top of Germany.
Mirko & Anna chose this magnificent location on Germany’s highest mountain for their winter wedding in the snow, accompanied by local photographer Aneta Lehotska.
A Winter Wedding on Germany’s Highest Mountain
It’s not too spectacular of a story – we met in a club where Mirko’s work had a party. A friend of Anna’s who was also working for the same enterprise invited Anna along to join her. The first thing we spoke about was snowboarding and our love of the mountains and we hit it off immediately.
Mirko asked when we were in New York City, which was a grrrrreat surprise!!! And it now gives us good reason to get back to that awesome town from time to time. 😉
We love snow and the mountains. The Zugspitze is the higehst mountain in Germany, so we knew that would be perfect for us.
Try to achieve the impossible. Places for a ceremony up at the Zugspitze are limited to only one single day per month, so it was a dream come true when we made it happen.
Singing “Sweet caroline” the way up in the cable car… ….the ice that looked like glitter in the air! … saying YES … and of course making fun photos in the snow with our loved ones. There were so many!
NO 🙂 It was absolutely perfect!
Stay you. Design your day as you are, not the way the wedding industry influencers pretend how it has to be.
