Rena & Thomas travelled to the Italian Alps from Hong Kong in search of epic scenery and adventures for their engagement shoot in the Italian Alps. What they didn’t expect for June however, was meters of snow on the mountains. The month of May had been so cold, and had brought a lot of late snowfall to the Alps, which meant that so many of the locations that they wanted to visit were off-limits for at least another few weeks.
The original plan for their engagement shoot was a hike up to a pristine mountain lake. But after checking on the condition of trails, they decided that hiking through knee-deep snow for 4 hours wasn’t quite what they had in mind. Working with me, a local photographer with knowledge of the area, I was able to give them a number of suggestions that didn’t involve getting their feet wet or cold. I planned a little magical mystery tour for them down one of my favourite valleys. Our adventure took us to two mountain lakes, both wildly different from one another, and a stunning alpine meadow with views across to the famous Tre Cime peaks.
One of the reasons I’m sharing this story with you is to show that even when you have to change plans at the last minute and switch to a plan B, the results can still be amazing. Whether it’s your wedding day or any other day, if plans have to change, just go with it.
