When this amazing anniversary couple shoot from Loco Love Photography landed in my inbox, I was so excited to see a brand new location for We Are The Wanderers.
Here’s what photographer Alisha said about this gorgeous session:
Jess and Jon are my best friends from college. They got married last year and to celebrate their first year of marriage they hired me during our trip to The Azores, Portugal to take anniversary photos. We woke up before the sunrise and drove up the winding hills of San Miguel until we made it to the top. After a quick hike up a nearly vertical paved road we found ourselves overlooking Lagoa do Fogo, a brilliant bright blue lake down below. On either side of us we could see the ocean surrounding the island. The grass was lush and green covering the landscape. They spoke sweet words over each other and took in the views as I witnessed it all with my camera. It was a glorious experience that I would do again and again.
Azores Anniversary Couple Shoot
Now let’s hear from the couple:
We met in college and spent 5 years together before getting married in September of 2018. We share a love for exploring new places and we have spent a lot of time traveling the world together. We love to hike, cook, read, and spend time with our families. Jonathan is a drone photographer and Jessica is speech language pathologist. We had our eye on the Azores for some time and we knew the scenery would be beautiful. We had no idea just how awe-inspiring it would be. On our first day, we drove to a well known lookout that features views of a crater lake and 270 degree views of the ocean. We knew this was the perfect spot so we came back another day shortly after sunrise and we had the whole place to ourselves! It was an intimate shoot and we had such a great time.
Our photographer is a very close friend of ours from college! She had always wanted to explore the Azores as well so we booked a week-long vacation together and planned to spend some time taking photographs and exploring the island of Sao Miguel.
We had a relatively short engagement (10 months) and decided not to an engagement photo session. We missed having more professional photos taken and we knew the Azores would be the perfect backdrop to create some beautiful moments.
Jess - my favorite part about the shoot was how natural it was for the three of us to work together and how much fun it was to play around in front of the camera Jonathan - my favorite moment was watching the light change throughout the morning and seeing how it enhanced the backdrop in the pictures as the day went on.
Jess - love unconditionally and don’t shy away from tough conversations. Have tough conversations calmly and with love. Jonathan - savor the little moments and encourage each other to try new things
