Sometimes some of the most beautiful landscapes can be right in your back garden, places you’ve grown up in and enjoyed since childhood.
For Jennifer and Ben, Dartmoor in the south west of England was that place.
Their wild and blustery engagement shoot was captured wonderfully by Liberty Pearl Photography from the UK.
Here’s a little bit about Jennifer and Ben in their own words:
A little story about how you met?
Funnily enough neither of us can remember exactly when we met! We were both at the same school for A Levels, meeting through other people and were friends for a long time, but it wasn’t until university that we got together. We went to universities 200 miles from each other but started a habit of visiting every few weeks which is where the magic happened!
The proposal?
Ben knew I didn’t want a big spectacle – the idea of all eyes on me in a restaurant makes me squirm – but I certainly didn’t expect the proposal to happen the way it did! I was actually on the way home from the gym and kept getting texts asking how far away I was from home. I hurried to the house and the front door was open, a trail of roses through to where Ben was stood waiting. He proceeded with a very romantic speech and dropped to one knee and of course I said yes! It was followed by a lovely dinner made by him and then me excitedly calling my family and drinking champagne! It was our first flat so it felt very special.
Why you chose Dartmoor for the pre wedding shoot?
We met when we both lived in Devon, and had both spent childhood and teen years walking around the moors and once we got together we started revisiting our favourite moorland places together. It’s such a beautiful place that means a lot to us – and it certainly made for some dramatic photos!
