Icelandic Engagement Session

Samantha Ernst, of Ernst & Co. photography, joined Lisa & Michael in Iceland for their engagement photos over the course of two days. Michael had previously proposed in Iceland at the blue lagoon, so they knew that they had to go back for their Icelandic engagement photos. They traveled the south coast and then ventured up north for some amazing shots.

Engagement Photoshoot in Iceland

Let’s start at the beginning. How did you two first meet?

Michael and I met while I was working at Turning Stone Resort and Casino. We instantly knew we were meant to be together but became friends for a few years until Michael told me he was relocating for work. I knew I did not want to lose him so we made it official.

What makes your relationship special?

Michael and I have an amazing relationship. I feel that our communication (except when I am hangry, or tired) is the base to our foundation. Michael pushes me to become the best Social Worker, Family member, friend, fiancé I can ever imagine. He reminds me that we have the rest of our lives to make money but our time is so valuable and something that can be taken away. This encourages me to travel the world and make sure I spend quality time with my family and friends.

How did you know your partner was the one?

One day I was running late for work to work a double, even though the night prior I finished a 16 hour shift! Michael left my apartment, grabbed me a coffee and croissant and through the chaos he made sure I found time to myself even if it meant drinking coffee and eating a croissant for 10 minutes.

Give us all the details about the proposal.

Michael and I went to Iceland for my 25th birthday. We fell in love with every aspect of Iceland. As much as I love to travel, Michael indicated that he wanted to go back and of course I did not say no. We went for a casual stroll on the harbor when Michael decided to ask me to be his forever at the Land of Fire and Ice. I need to mention that 15 minutes before he proposed he vomited because he was so nervous. hahaha. It was a total surprise! I knew it was eventually going to happen but not during that time. Mike stated he purchased the ring in November and waited for our trip to Iceland in March.

Tell us about that ring!

I LOVE rose gold and its the only thing I wear. Michael knows I am a simple classic gal so he got me a solitaire diamond on a rose gold band. I am in love!

Are you excited to start planning your wedding day?

Yes! We are aiming for a romantic classy wedding!
