Irish Elopement In Co. Clare

Today’s feature is an Irish elopement in Co. Clare that just goes to show that you don’t need perfect weather and epic views for absolutely breathtaking wedding photos. In fact, I think the wildness of the weather adds to the magic. Don’t you agree?

A Stormy Irish Elopement In Co. Clare

Tell Us About How You Met

This all began back in 2015 when we first met, over lunch one day with a group of friends and work colleagues and it just took off from there. For Amanda, she was hooked from the start but Sean had his eye on you long before that

Tell Us About The Proposal

On Sean’s Birthday, so double the celebrations and both will always remember. It was in the Botanical Gardens in Knoxville Tennessee, by a little Hobbit Bridge. Sean took Amanda’s hand and went down on bended knee, it felt like life had suddenly sped up to a million miles an hour for Amanda as she kept repeating No, no, no, then yes, no, yes but actually it was the feeling of weakness and being on the verge of fainting and not that she didn’t want to marry Sean- but now we both have a great laugh when we recall that moment in history

How Did You Choose Your Wedding Location?

We absolutely love Ireland, right after the proposal, there was not a single doubt that we wanted to Elope to Ireland. It held greater meaning for Amanda as her ancestors immigrated from Ireland, and wanted to go and touch the soil her ancestors walked.

How Did You Find Your Main Vendors?

Mostly google search, each of the vendors was fantastic. With Johnny Corcoran photography we feel in love with his style as we wanted a realistic view into our wild and untamed love.

What Was The Inspiration Behind Your Wedding Day?

We wanted to not stress, and have the day be about us celebrating together. Having a moment of time where we could just be us, capturing it for history.

What Was Your Favourite Moment From The Day?

Favorite part of the day started with a bit of a calamity; we had intended to have our ceremony at the Cliff’s of Moher. When we all arrived, the rain had only intensified from a drizzle to be a complete downpour. Additionally, the winds were 140 mphs which picked Amanda up with her dress and immediately said “Nope” this is not safe for anyone! Thus, we went driving to find an on the spot new location by just driving around the “Wild Atlantic”. We happened to find the perfect spot and would not change a thing! The rain and wind just helped us feel alive in the moment. As we were doing the hand-tying ceremony, wrapping the orange ribbon for adaptability- we let out a big laugh because “adaptability” was the word of the day!

If You Could Do It All Again, Would You Do Anything Differently?

We used a iPhone for video for our family due to the high winds - (Just plan on it, It’s Ireland after all ) couldn’t hear anything on our video due to wind noise. We are trying to work with a company to remove the wind noise, but if could go back just hire a videographer or use a dome for your recorder to remove wind noise.

Any Advice For Other Couples?

Please make your wedding about you both, your relationship, and your desires. Don’t plan a wedding for anyone else but you. De-stress and have fun!

Honeymoon Plans?

We spent the following week driving from the “Wild Atlantic” to Dublin hitting B&B’s along the way.
