Greece might not seem like an obvious choice for dramatic scenery but the island of Santorini proves a stunning backdrop for Laura & Lee’s destination wedding captured by Tara Lilly Photography. The dark dramatic cliffs behind the white buildings are really something special.
Santorini Destination Wedding
We had mutual friends but had never met and it was social media that brought us together 10 years ago.
We were lucky enough to have a lovely home together and then welcome our wonderful son Cooper into the world in 2014. We had all we needed, so it was a lovely surprise when lee proposed on Christmas Eve 2016 with a ring he designed himself. We didn’t want or need a big wedding so we knew instantly we wanted to go abroad to get married.
We chose May 2017 as that was our ten year anniversary and we chose the venue as after speaking to a few places, we knew Katerina the wedding planner would go above and beyond. It was also perfect for us as we could also get rooms for all the family, so we could all stay together and make it a week long celebration.
We wanted a laid back, relaxed day where everyone could be together and have lots of nice food and drink.
We managed to bring some Scottish traditions with us, luckily our brother in law Rich Gordon is a professional bagpiper and he played me down the aisle and after we were married. Lees brother Mike is a chef so he made Scottish tablet for wedding favours. We also had Caledonia by Dougie Mclean as our first dance and Loch Lomond as the last dance. Pretty much the whole day, but I’ll never forget how emotional and sweet Lee’s speech was.
No, it was just right.
