Don’t you just love a ski elopement? Many fanatics of winter sports have dreamt about saying their ‘I do’s’ with the majestic snow-capped mountains as their backdrop. But how many are actually brave enough to exchange vows right there on the the slopes? Katey and Cody certainly made it look effortless and are sure to inspire others to take the plunge.
Winter Ski Elopement of the Slopes of Mont Blanc
This fearless couple knew they wanted an adventure wedding in the Alps that really represented their love. So they decided to elope at altitude overlooking one of their favorite locations – the Mont-Blanc valley. They both love winter sports, always have and always will. It is a huge reason they fell in love. Katey loved skiing and Cody was a pretty wicked snowboarder.
The two of them arrived at the cable car station of Brevent to take the gondola up to Plan Praz of 2,000m up. They then changed into their wedding attire. The bride in a beautifully layered gown looked amazing as she rode down the mountainside for their ski adventure elopement. The groom put on a handsome suit paired with board boats of course! They walked back out to the main access of Plan Praz and took a few moments to watch the paragliders taking off to fly above the Chamonix valley.
Next, they took the cable car to the mountain top of Le Brevent at 2,525m at altitude. From the top, the views are breathtaking and include a beautiful panoramic view of Mont Blanc. Everyone on the cable car was so excited for the couple!
These two didn’t need many vendors – just a planner, a florist, and a celebrant for this elopement. The couple’s wedding planners - Haute Wedding - we offer an in house celebrant named Charlie who is English but also speaks French. He made a custom ceremony tailored just for this international couple. The ceremony was simple and short. Charlie married them right in the snow just the two of them. They celebrated by throwing red rose petals that stood out in the bright white snow. They didn’t want many traditional aspects to the wedding but did include a bouquet toss! The two friends were actually new friends they met on holiday in Chamonix! They loved being a part of this special day.
After a beautiful slope side ceremony, the bride threw on a ski cap, goggles, and a warm scarf to complete her bridal attire. This the adventurous duo were great at winter sports so they easily glided over the mountain in their attire. The snow was light and fluffy perfect for a day on the mountain.
Of course, as on any snow day, there were a few falls… but the first time as Mr. & Mrs. the two lifted each other up after they fell – literally! Then they skied and boarded all the way to the valley floor.
After an exhilarating day on the mountain, this duo took to the valley to celebrate their love in style. They took a long stroll by the Arve, the famous river that runs through Chamonix and cheers to the many more adventures ahead.
