How Did You Meet?
We are both involved in rebuilding homes damaged by natural disasters, and we worked on a project in South Carolina together. That’s where we met.
Tell Us About The Proposal
Hamilton and I are both avid hikers. We went for a weekend getaway in Asheville, NC to see the fall colors and participate in Oktoberfest. Hamilton proposed at the top of Mount Mitchell, the highest peak in the Appalachians.
How Did You Choose Your Wedding Location?
We initially wanted an outdoor mountain wedding, but because we didn’t know the area very well and read that the weather could be variable, we opted for a place that offered privacy and shelter. The church was a perfect fit. The cost to rent was within our budget, and the church is nondenominational which meant we could have a celebrant perform the ceremony.
How Did You Find Your Main Vendors?
All vendors were found using google search.
What Was The Inspiration Behind Your Wedding Day?
We wanted to cultivate a sense of intimacy for our wedding day, so that we could focus on the meaning and intention of our vows to one another.
What Was Your Favourite Moment From The Day?
Reading our vows and hearing messages from our loved ones read aloud during the ceremony.
If You Could Do It All Again, Would You Do Anything Differently?
We might have chosen early June instead of May.
Any Advice For Other Couples?
Follow your heart and do what’s right for your couple. Don’t worry about other people’s wishes so much. They’ll understand. And many will tell you they wish they had eloped! We still had engagement parties and an after-party when we returned.
