Winter Elopement In The Alps

Nadja & Frederik spend almost every chance they get in the mountains. It’s where they feel the most alive and free, surrounded by stunning scenery and the raw beautiful of nature. So they had no second thoughts about choosing the Austrian Alps as the location for their winter elopement.

Winter Elopement In The Alps

Nadja & Frederik’s winter elopement in the Alps took place in the popular ski resort of Mayrhofen in Zillertal. They decided to travel here from their home town in Germany to hold their civil marriage ceremony. In the morning of their elopement, the took the cable car up the Penken mountain. Their plan was to take photos with the stunning mountains in the background, but low hanging clouds meant that they weren’t able to get the views they wanted. Instead, they found themselves in a snowy winter scene, with fresh covered trees and snowflakes falling from the skies above. Every now and then they would see a small break in the clouds to hint at the stunning mountain ranges that were in the distance.

After some fun in the snow, they headed back down in to the valley and made their way to the local registry office, where the local registrar Burgi conducted a heartfelt and emotional ceremony for the two of them. The rest of their day was spent enjoying their favourite Austrian foods and taking in the magnificent landscapes at the skies started to clear.

Nadia and Frederik decided to hold a larger ceremony and church blessing the next summer back home in Germany, but their winter elopement in the Austrian Alps will always hold such a special place in their hearts as they day they officially become husband and wife.
