Brace yourselves! Today’s elopement is an absolute stunner! Melissa & Shane travelled to Germany for this intimate lakeside elopement in the Bavarian Alps. They chose to have an intimate, meaningful ceremony on the banks of the beautiful Lake Eibsee.
A Lakeside Elopement in the Bavarian Alps
We met when I was an RN at the hospital that he works at. I worked as the Stroke Coordinator and he is an Orthopaedic Surgeon.
We have known we were getting married since very early in our relationship, but one evening he formally asked outside at our home. We hadn’t bought a ring yet but it didn’t matter. When he did get the ring, he surprised me and had wine and gifts prepared for me when I came home from work.
We went to Germany in 2017 and just loved it. The specific location I think came from the fact that I love water and he loves mountains. This location has both! And the date actually revolved around Oktoberfest.
That was all done by Peach Perfect Weddings! I knew that it was going to be a challenge planning everything from across the world, and Shane and I don’t have much free time to speak of. They were amazing! Everything was exactly how we wanted it.
We had both been married before and truly just wanted an elopement ceremony with a lot of meaning. We worked very closely with the planners and got just that. We love being outside and the beauty of nature, and our location was breathtaking. Honestly the inspiration came from wanting a very meaningful, private ceremony in an amazing location.
Probably the handfasting part of the ceremony. That was very meaningful for us and the words that Yvonne spoke were beautiful.
I really can’t think of anything at all we would change!
Hire a wedding planning service that has a planner who is located in the place you are having your wedding! Having a person there that day was invaluable.
That was a combo trip! We stayed in Lake Eibsee for a few days then had a private driver to take us up to Munich, stopping at some beautiful places like Castle Linderhof, Castle Neuschwanstein, and Oberammergau. It was a spectacular day. Then we stayed in Munich at the most fabulous hotel we have ever been to, the Beyond. We had a wonderful time and even went to Oktoberfest! It was the trip of a lifetime.
