Even before he’d proposed there was one thing Bec knew. If they were going to get married it would need to be somewhere cold. Because Bec’s childhood dream was to go skiing in her wedding dress!
A Ski Wedding In Mayrhofen
There’s a popular ski resort in the Austrian alps called Mayrhofen in Zillertal. When Bec and Dan got engaged, they hadn’t been before, but they had heard on the grapevine that it’s one of the top resorts in Austria with a great reputation for skiing and even greater one for it’s Après-Ski . So they flew over to check it out and decided it was perfect.
Their wedding ceremony was held on the top of the mountain, and with clear blue skies, Bec and Dan said their marriage vows with a panoramic view of the mountains in front of them.
Swapping A First Dance For A First Ski
Shortly after their ceremony, Bec and Dan changed in to more unsuitable footwear and headed on to the slopes of the Ahorn mountain for a first ski as husband and wife. Having known from the start that she would ski on her wedding day, Bec’s dress was altered to fit perfectly with her ski boots. As they completed their lap of honour, other skiers couldn’t believe their eyes as a couple in full wedding attire slid past them, and they arrived back at their wedding venue to cheers from their entire wedding party and the kids ski school!
Time For Some Après-Ski
All that Bec and Dan had to do now to complete their dream ski wedding was to finish the day celebrating the traditional Austrian ski resort way. With après-ski themed cocktails, the Austrian classic Wiener schnitzel on the menu, Jägermeister miniatures for each guest, and the sun setting over the mountains behind them, Bec and Dan pulled off the ultimate ski resort wedding.
